This year marks a significant milestone for us at Blackfyre. We are celebrating 35 years of excellence and success in delivering high-quality GSA Schedule consulting services. This achievement is not just a milestone, it is a testament to the trust, support, and sheer hard work that has powered our journey.

Reflecting on Blackfyre’s Success

We believe the best way to honor our path is to reflect on it. Reminiscing our journey from a home-based start-up to a 100% employee-owned enterprise reveals immense growth, expansion, and evolution.

The Journey of Blackfyre

At its inception, Blackfyre was a woman-owned small business. Our founder, Roxanne, recognized a growing demand for effective GSA Schedule consulting and acted on it. From modest beginnings in a residential office, we branched out into a professional space downtown Herndon, Virginia. Today, the reins of this employee-owned entity are held by our capable President, Julie Crosby.

From Humble Beginnings to Our Current Location

Even as we have grown and expanded, we ensure to retain our roots. Our headquarters lie in the heart of Herndon, within the thriving Dulles Tech Corridor. Proximity to the future Silver Line metro station echoes our own ascension and evolving operational needs.

The Evolution of the GSA Schedule: A Parallel Tale

Our trajectory has moved in synergy with the evolution of GSA Schedules:

  • Open Seasons: In the early days, GSA Schedule submissions were limited to specific periods each year. This is a far cry from the year-round open contracts now in function.
  • Contract Period of Performance: The program transitioned from a standard one-year term to a three-year term, finally settling on the current benchmark of five years with extension options.
  • Service Offerings: The early GSA Schedule primarily focused on products. Today, services account for roughly 70% of sales, marking a significant shift.
  • Digital Transition: As digital platforms became the norm, we rose to the challenge, transitioning from paper proposals to digital navigation.
  • Industry Solutions Diversification: From being primarily IT-centric, GSA Schedules widened their scope to cover a plethora of product and service-based schedules. The consolidation into a single Multiple Award Schedule (MAS) in 2019 was a historic moment.

Looking Ahead

At Blackfyre, we are always future-forward. We remain in sync with GSA’s initiatives and are preparing to guide contractors through the uncharted waters of the GSA Schedules landscape in 2021 and beyond. It’s a promise we make as industry leaders and former GSA Schedule Reviewers, and it’s a promise we intend to keep.

Pedro has extensive background as a Contracting Officer and Contract Specialist, has worked across seven federal agencies, managing contracts totaling over $1 billion in the professional and tech sectors. His notable tenure includes serving with the DoD/DARPA during the inception of their robotics program. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in initiating the Cyber Special Item Number (SIN) within the GSA's IT Schedule 70 as a Team Lead. After graduating from Harvard, he started Blackfyre to help you win your next contract.
