Frequently Asked Questions

Does a GSA Schedule raise my company’s value?

There are a few ways that obtaining a GSA Schedule can potentially increase the value of your company:

  1. Reputation: Having a GSA Schedule can demonstrate to potential customers and partners that your company is reliable and trustworthy, as the GSA conducts thorough evaluations of companies before awarding them a schedule. This can increase your company's reputation and standing in the market.
  2. Increased visibility: A GSA Schedule can give your company increased visibility to government agencies, as they can easily find and purchase from your company through the GSA's online procurement platform. This can lead to increased business and revenue for your company.
  3. Streamlined procurement process: Obtaining a GSA Schedule can streamline the procurement process for government agencies, making it easier for them to do business with your company. This can lead to increased efficiency and potentially more business for your company. Overall, while having a GSA Schedule can increase the value of your company, it is not a guarantee. It is important to continue to focus on providing high-quality products or services and building strong relationships with customers and partners.

How do I determine my GSA Schedule pricing?

Working with us can help you develop a pricing strategy that meets GSA's requirements and maximizes your profitability.

Pitfalls to avoid:

(1) low hourly rates;

(2) large discount given to GSA, they are able to accept a 3% discount if negotiated correctly; and

(3) not enough labor categories in your pricelist.

How long does it take to get a GSA Schedule

The length of time it takes to obtain a GSA Schedule can vary depending on several factors, including the complexity of your proposal, the availability of GSA staff to review your application and any issues that may arise during the review process. Why Get a GSA Schedule

The Federal Market
Doesn't Wait for the Unprepared

Without a GSA Schedule, federal contracting officers literally cannot buy from you through the government's most-used procurement channel.

$750B+

Federal procurement spend per year. GSA Schedule is the largest and most accessible on-ramp into this market — open year-round, unlike SEWP or CIO-SP3 which open every 5–10 years.

📋

FAR Part 8 Mandate

Contracting Officers are legally required to check the GSA Schedule before going to open competition. If you're on the list, you get seen. If not, you don't exist.

🔄

Blanket Purchase Agreements

GSA is the only vehicle where you can win BPAs — exclusive agency-level recurring revenue relationships that lock in repeat work for years.

📈

Company Valuation

A GSA Schedule is a hard asset. It makes your company more attractive to partners, investors, and acquirers. It signals government-market credibility.

🏛️

400+ Buying Agencies

Every federal cabinet agency, most sub-agencies, and select state/local governments can buy from GSA. One contract, 400+ potential buyers.

Streamlined Procurement

Agencies can award task orders within days — not months. GSA eliminates the full FAR acquisition process, making it dramatically easier to get selected.

🛡️

Competitive Advantage

Your competitors with schedules are already in front of contracting officers. Every day without one is market share you're ceding to them.

The Application Journey

Our 9-Step
GSA Mward Process

We run the entire process for you — from document preparation through contract negotiation. You focus on your business; we get you approved.

1

Review GSA MAS Solicitation

We pull the latest solicitation from eOffer and map exactly what's required for your target SINs, so there are no surprises downstream.

Week 1
2

Determine Your Eligibility

We verify financials, SAM.gov status, DUNS/UEI, and prior project experience meet GSA's minimum thresholds before we invest a single hour in your application.

Week 1–2
3

Select the Right SINs

Choosing the wrong SIN category is the #1 reason applications get rejected. We map your capabilities to the highest-opportunity SINs for your specific services.

Week 2
4

Prepare Your Application Package

Price proposals, CSP-1 disclosure, past performance narratives, labor category descriptions, certifications — we build every document to GSA's exacting standards.

Week 3–5
5

Submit via eOffer Portal

We handle the full eOffer submission — uploading documents, completing forms, and ensuring every section is answered correctly the first time.

Week 6
6

Pass the Financial Review

GSA's DCAA-liaison financial review is where many applicants stumble. We prepare your submissions and respond to any auditor questions immediately.

Week 7–10
7

Respond to CS Clarifications

Contract Specialists ask questions. We answer them — fast, precisely, and in the language GSA expects. Slow responses kill timelines; we eliminate that risk.

Week 10–14
8

Negotiate Terms & Conditions

This is Pedro's superpower — he's sat across this table as the contracting officer. We negotiate pricing and T&Cs that are fair, competitive, and legally protected.

Week 14–18
9

Sign Your Contract & Go Win

Contract executed. GSA Advantage profile live. eBuy access enabled. You're now one of 12,000+ companies that federal agencies can legally buy from — and we help you make the most of it.

Week 18–24

The Blackfyre Difference

We've Sat on
Both Sides of the Table

Most GSA consultants learned this process by watching. Pedro Rubio learned it by doing — as a Contracting Officer and Contract Specialist inside GSA itself, where he personally reviewed, negotiated, and awarded hundreds of contracts.

That inside knowledge means we know exactly what makes a Contract Specialist approve an application instantly — and what sends one to the rejection pile. We don't guess. We know.

Common Questions

Everything You Want
to Know Before Starting

How long does the GSA Schedule process take?

Our average time from engagement to contract award is 90 days. The industry average is 4–6 months. Our speed advantage comes from Pedro's insider knowledge of what CS reviewers want — clean, complete applications that don't require rounds of clarification.

Does my business need federal experience to apply?

No federal experience required. GSA accepts commercial, state/local, and non-profit past performance. Many of our 70+ clients had zero federal experience before getting approved — we craft narratives from commercial work that demonstrate the right capabilities.

What is a SIN and how do I choose the right one?

A SIN (Special Item Number) is the product/service category within your GSA Schedule. Choosing the wrong SIN is the #1 reason applications get rejected or underperfom. We map your capabilities to the highest-value, best-fit SINs for your specific services — and explain why each one matters.

Does a GSA Schedule guarantee revenue?

A GSA Schedule is a permission slip — not a guarantee. It gets you on the approved vendor list, but you still need to actively sell. That's why we also offer our Fractal Federal Sales program to build your active BD pipeline after award.

What happens after my contract is awarded?

Award is the beginning, not the end. You'll need to set up your GSA Advantage listing, respond to eBuy RFQs, file annual reports, and manage modifications. We provide 6 months of post-award support and offer ongoing maintenance plans at $299/month to keep your contract healthy and compliant.

Can I add more SINs after my contract is awarded?

Yes — you can add SINs, products, services, and pricing through a contract modification at any time. We offer an Add SIN service that handles the modification process. Many of our clients expand their schedule in year one as they identify new federal market opportunities.

What is the GSA 0.75% IFF and how does it work?

The Industrial Funding Fee (IFF) is 0.75% of all sales under your schedule, remitted quarterly to GSA. It's built into your pricing, not an out-of-pocket cost. We explain the full compliance lifecycle — including reporting, remittance, and audit preparedness — during our post-award training.

What if my application is rejected?

In our 70+ client history, we have never had an application ultimately rejected. We have had applications require clarifications — which is normal — but we've successfully resolved every one. Our upfront eligibility screening ensures we only submit applications we're confident will be approved.
