Beta SAM: Navigating the Transition

Welcome to Blackfyre, your trusted partner in GSA Federal Schedule Consulting. In a world of ever-evolving government contracting systems, we are uniquely poised to guide you through the challenging transition from SAM.gov to beta.SAM.gov. Leveraging our industry-leading expertise in MAS consulting and GSA schedule support, we aim to simplify the complexities of maneuvering these government platforms. Here's an insight into the upcoming transition and its implications for contractors:

Introducing Beta.SAM.gov: The Next Phase of SAM

In an effort to transform the General Services Administration's Integrated Award Environment (IAE), the beta.SAM.gov initiative emerges as a considerable milestone. This initiative is aimed at unifying the vast pool of data scattered across different government-run websites into a single platform. This one-stop service is projected to simplify the process for entities managing federal awards.

The Purpose of Beta.SAM.gov

Beta.SAM.gov aspires to function as the unified, authoritative source for entities managing, making and receiving federal awards. The main goal is to replace ten individual systems with one comprehensive platform, thereby eliminating the need to maintain multiple logins and manage different systems.

Transition Timeline

In the coming years, both SAM.gov and beta.SAM.gov will function in parallel. Currently, SAM.gov serves as the primary source of information, with beta.SAM.gov functioning as an additional tool for searching contract opportunities, assistance listings, wage determinations, and entity registrations. The full migration to beta.SAM.gov is anticipated around the fiscal year 2020, after which it will supersede as the new SAM.gov.

Preparation for the Transition

To ensure a smooth transition, Blackfyre recommends the following strategies:

  1. Create a Beta.SAM.gov Account: Register early to ensure your login remains active in the future.
  2. Transition Legacy Roles: Keep your SAM login credentials up-to-date to seamlessly transfer legacy roles and permissions.
  3. Maintain Passwords: Keep your passwords for legacy systems active prior to transition.
  4. Resubscribe to WDOL: Document WD numbers, as WDOL subscriptions will not automatically transition.
  5. Familiarize with Beta.SAM.gov: Interact with the new system to understand its features and functionalities.
  6. Beware of Solicitations: Remember, all official communications will be from a .gov domain; registrations, renewals, and updates on SAM.gov or beta.SAM.gov are free.
